GAZEBO/PAVILION GUIDELINES
The Deerfield Village Property Owners Association Board approved a new guideline regarding Gazebo/Pavilion for lots. It will need to be voted on at the March Annual member meeting. The following are the rules for Gazebos/Pavilions.
1. Must be mounted on a patio or deck, not freestanding in yard. No slab put in expressly for a gazebo/pavilion in middle of yard.
2. Open style structure without walls or door.
3. NO pop up sports tent/canopy style.
4. Wood, metal, or cloth roof. Must be maintained in good repair. If wood, stained/painted as needed to keep in good repair. Cloth roof/curtains must be maintained. If they become torn/tattered, they need to be replaced forthwith.
5. Uprights metal or wood. If metal uprights, must be a patio style gazebo/pavilion, no sports style pop up canopy. If wood, stained/painted as needed to keep in good repair.
6. May have curtains that are tied at uprights or closed for privacy. Curtains must be kept in good repair and replaced when tattered. Curtains must remain open unless gazebo is currently occupied. Gazebo is not to be used for storage purposes.
7. CANNOT be a separate structure that is enclosed on a pad or gravel (see far right unacceptable picture.)
8. Property Improvement form must be submitted and approved prior to installation.
9. Only one per lot.

Deerfield Village Arboreal Policy
Trees are very important to Deerfield Village. The Board of Directors has approved tree replacement procedures that enable residents to participate and be reimbursed for part of the expense. The policy document can be found on the Resources Page — look under “Other Documents.”

Water Saving Tips
Water is expensive — these water saving tips are provided by Jefferson Utilities, Inc.
• Run your dishwasher and laundry with full loads
• Wash fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of under a running faucet
• Hold a one (1) gallon bucket in your shower. If the bucket fills up in less than 20 seconds, then you should consider replacing your shower head with a more water efficient model
• Verify you have no leaking toilets of faucets. We’re more likely to notice leaks indoors, but don’t forget to check outdoor faucets, sprinklers and hoses for leaks
These are the approximate amounts of water used for common household activities:
• Laundry – 30 gallons per load
• Shower/tub – 30 gallons per shower
• Toilet – 5 gallons per flush
• Dishwasher – 15 to 30 gallons per load
The commonly accepted value for water consumption, per household, is 4,500 gallons per month.
Trash Talk
Some electronics, specifically televisions, and computer monitors or any device that has a video screen, have been banned from landfills in this area. These items must be separated from your regular trash and you must call or e-mail Apple Valley Waste customer service to schedule a separate pickup.
